Kolkata: A sepoy of Kolkata Armed Police’s 8th battalion today allegedly shot himself dead with service rifle at his barrack in Cossipore area in northern part of the city.
A senior police officer said sepoy Binod Kumar Eam of 8th battalion allegedly shot at himself with his service rifle near the canteen beneath the barrack building in the Cossipore police station area.
He was 34 and a resident of Bihar.
No suicide note was found in the room and the body was sent for post-mortem, the officer said.
“We are looking into whether he was suffering from any personal problem. Every aspect will be looked into,” the officer said.
