Good news for NRIs, Telangana Govt. formulating policy with MEA

Hyderabad: IT and NRI Affairs minister KT Rama Rao to attend a meeting summoned by Union Minister for External Affairs on May 8 at New Delhi. The minister will discuss the issues faced by working Indians in other countries of Gulf and Malaysia.

Before which, he held a meeting on Friday with officials of Industry and Commerce, GAD, Regional Passport Officer and Head, MEA Branch, Secretariat, Protocol in order to formulate NRI policy in Telangana, reported The Hindu.

According to the officials, the meeting’s aim is to entertain complaints of the emigrants regarding their work conditions, wages, contracts, women related issues and compensation provided to them.

Telangana’s NRI policy also would focus on involving these NRIs for the development of their native countries. The External Affairs Ministry would also take up its first MEA-State Outreach programme in collaboration with Telangana government to be held here on May 13 with all the stakeholders.

An office will be set up in Hyderabad for facilitation of easy access to the MEA offices like Passport Office, Head of MEA Branch, POE. The land will be identified by the State government in consultation with MEA. In addition to this, the state has also offered to host Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2019 in Hyderabad.

The other programmes include ‘Know India Programme’ in Telangana to be hosted by Information and Communication, Tourism and Culture and IT developments to showcase best of India to benefit NRIs as well as foreigners and the opening of a Pravasi Kaushal Vikas Yojana Skilling centre in Hyderabad. A media campaign on safe and legal migration for overseas employment will also be launched by I and PR department and manuals in Telugu and Urdu to facilitate pre-departure orientation training.

To speed up the process, TOMCOM Mallepalyy will work with MeeSeva for the issuance of passports, and to extend the process to all the districts eventually.

Another project named e-Sanad will be launched to digitalise the authentication of documents and online application linked with passport, Aadhar, mobile number for slot booking for submission of original certificates for GAD stamping in Tatkal or general mode.
