KTR inaugurates GHMC Emergency Control Room

Hyderabad: Municipal Administration & Urban Development Minster K. Tarakarama Rao inaugurated the Emergency Control Room at GHMC Head Office here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR appealed to the citizens to dial 100 where 150 lines have been arranged for taking calls. The citizens may also represent their grievances to the GHMC Call Centre by dialing 21111111 especially during heavy down pours and natural calamities, water logging points, falling of trees, building collapse due to heavy rains etc., As a random check, the Minister dialed emergency number 100 and interacted with the emergency wing and complained about the a tree fall at Kavadiguda for which the emergency call centre responded positively. KTR appreciated the promptness with which the call was attended by the GHMC staff.

The Minister said that all the line departments like GHMC, HMDA, HMWS&SB, Traffic Police, Police, Metrological Department, Fire Services, Electricity and 108 Emergency Services, will be available under one roof at the time of emergency to receive the complaints to sort out the issues during heavy down pours.

KTR directed all the line departments to take up the responsibility and also to monitor personally during emergencies. The GHMC has deployed 105 emergency teams in all the zones with men and machinery to reach the spot to tackle the situation during monsoon season. A convergence meeting is being held on 1st Saturday of every month with all the line departments and exchanging the views out to tackle the situation duly coordination among the Government departments.

The Minister said if need arises, the convergence meeting should held once in 15 days for effective functioning during monsoon season. The GHMC has set up emergency control room pre-monsoon for which the Minister has appreciated GHMC Commissioner Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy and all the Heads of the Government Departments for taking up the project.

Earlier, Dr. Janardhan Reddy explained about the functioning of the emergency control room and briefed the Minister about the work done by all the departments during recent heavy down pours.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin, MA&UD Special Chief Secretary M.G. Gopal, Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand, Hyderabad District Collector Rahul Bojja, Ranga Reddy Collector Raghunandan Rao, HMWSSB Managing Director Lokesh Kumar and other senior officials were also present. (INN)
