KTR inheriting lying habit from KCR: Congress

Leader of Opposition in Telangana Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has accused Panchayat Raj Minister K. Tarakarama Rao of taking a U-turn on his claim of TRS winning 100 seats in GHMC elections.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Shabbir Ali said KTR had repeatedly challenged opposition leaders offering to quit from minister’s post if TRS fails to win 100 seats. “When I accepted his challenge, he took a U-turn and said he never claimed about winning 100 seats,” he said while showing three separate video clippings of KTR making the claim. “KTR is trying to run away from his own claims. His U-turn clearly shows that TRS party’s graph is fast coming down. Tomorrow he might deny claiming TRS capturing Mayor’s post on its own and instead, he would say he hinted about post-poll alliances,” he said.

Shabbir Ali said KTR was inheriting the art of lying from his father and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. “KCR cheated people by making tons of fake promises in 2014 General Election and now KTR is misleading people with new promises in GHMC elections,” he said. In its 2014 election manifesto, TRS had promised to develop Hyderabad as a global city. Promises like satellite townships, cleaning of Hussainsagar and Musi River, resolving traffic problems, shifting of Chanchalguda Jail and Race Course, etc., were made. However, nothing has been done during the last 19 months. Now, TRS made new promises in its GHMC election manifesto. “TRS must clarify on the status of implementation of old promises and whether people should forget in view of new promises. Whose words should be trusted now, KCR’s or KTR’s?” he asked.

The Congress leader questioned the silence of TRS on promises of 12% Muslim Reservation. He accused TRS of insulting the poor Muslims by offering them 1,000 auto-rickshaws. “TRS should have announced special package and technical education centres for the upliftment of poor and downtrodden Muslims. By offering auto-rickshaws, TRS leaders have clearly conveyed that they want Muslim youth to remain auto-drivers and do menial jobs,” he said.

SETWIN Chairman Mohd Maqsood Ahmed and GHCC Minorities Department Chairman Shaik Abdullah Sohail were also present in the press conference. (INN)
