KTR meets Rajnath

Hyderabad March 29 (NSS): Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao today urged the Centre to increase number of districts to 24 from existing 10 in Telangana besides increasing Assembly segments to 153 from 119. KTR called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Rural Development Minister Chowdhray Birendra Singh in national capital and appealed them to take necessary steps in this regard. Later he told reporters that he appealed to Rajnath Singh to take steps to see that next parliament session make amendments for implementation of Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act. I sought the Home Minister to initiate constitutional steps for increasing number of districts and reorganization of mandals in the state. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had already spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the need for increasing all India services officers for the state. Right now we have 121 IPS officers and sought allocation of 29 more to make a total of 141 officers he said. KTR also said that he urged the Home Minister to allot Rs 3000 cr under Pradhan Mantri Grameen Swaraj Yojana scheme to the state. Rajnath Singh promised to address the issues at the earliest, he added. He also said that he urged Rs 3000 cr for rural development and Rs 500 cr for construction of 172 bridges in the state. (NSS)
