KTR says Govt’s endeavour is to make Hyderabad a “slum-free city”

Hyderabad: The TRS government as promised was committed to build one lakh 2-bedroom houses for the poor in one year.
This was stated by IT and Municipal Administration Minister, K. T. Rama Rao, while performing bhoomi pooja on Tuesday for the 2-bedroom houses in Bandla Maisamma Nagar in Sanathnagar Assembly Constituency. Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan, Deputy Mayor local corporators and GHMC officials were present on the occasion.
The GHMC would take up the construction work for 468 houses on a two-acre land and each house would cost Rs.8 lakhs.
Speaking on the occasion KTR pointed out that no other state in the country had ventured to take up construction of the houses for the poor on such a massive scale as the TRS Government was committed to ensure better and respectable living conditions for the poor. As promised the government would complete construction of one lakh houses in one year. Tenders would be called shortly for taking up construction of 60,000 houses.It is the endeavour of KCR Government to make Hyderabad a slum-free city, he observed.
KTR also took the opportunity to highlight various developmental and welfare programs being taken up the TRS Government on the instructions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Earlier, only Rs.200 was being paid as old-age pension. Now the TRS Government is paying Rs.1000 as pension involving an expenditure of Rs.5500 crores. Already the kalyana laxmi scheme for providing financial assistance for the marriage of poor girls was being implemented. From the month of June the amma vodi scheme would be implemented through which Rs.12000 would be paid for the birth of a male child and Rs.13000 for a girl child. Shortly, many more welfare schemes would be announced by the Chief Minister, he declared.
The minister also performed bhoomi pooja for 2-bedroom houses in Ambedkarnagar in the Ramgopalpet Division of Sanathnagar Assembly constituency, which incidentally is represented by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. (NSS)
