TPCC here on Wednesday alleged that IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao violated election code of conduct by wooing Brahmins to cast their votes on caste basis.
TPCC Official spokesperson G Niranjan has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission on Wednesday in this regard. In his letter, he alleged that the TRS leaders, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao and IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao were habitually violating the election code in spite of orders passed against them by Central Election Commissioner.
The ECI issued orders on December 11, 2015 finding fault with the assurances of KCR for extension of Kalyana Laxmi Scheme to BCs, which was meant for the people belonging to SC /STs. He also reminded that the ECI also issued orders on December 21, 2015 finding fault with K. Tarakarama Rao for admitting ZPTCs and MPTCs into TRS on November 27, 2015 in his chambers at Secretariat and assuring them to provide funds in different schemes.
Now, in the same way, KTR violated the election the code during his election campaigning for GHMC elections. On January 24, KTR, during his election campaign, tried to woo the Brahmin voters on caste basis, he alleged. Similarly, on January 24, while speaking in a meeting of Tamilians in Koutha Kalyana Mandapam, Padmaronagar, Secunderabad, KTR assured two bedroom housed to Tamilians. He also assured to work for construction of Tamil Bhavan.
On January 26, while speaking at a meeting of Kannadigas at Ravindra Bharathi, KTR assured them of a Kannada Bhavan in the city. He also assured to extend Kalyana Laxmi and double bedroom scheme to Kannadigas, he added. All these assurances attract election model code of conduct, he said and asked the Election Commission to take action in this regard immediately to ensure free and fair elections in GHMC. (NSS)
