Labour welfare key for growth: Kadiam

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari today said Labour welfare was key for growth and the State government was pro-working class, labourers and farmers and implemented several schemes for their welfare.
Extending greetings to these classes to mark May Day celebrations conducted across the State and country, Srihari said the governments have to make more efforts for achieving inclusive growth to bring them to mainstream by offering minimum wages for the done. It is mandatory for the companies and industries to provide minimum basic wages to the workers and labourers, he said, and adding that there was a need for protecting their interests. The State government has asked the Industries department to ensure that the small and medium industries offer minimum wages to the workers.
Srihari said Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao increased salaries of contract and outsourcing staff to give them equal respect and offering pensions to weavers, beedi workers and toddy tappers and others in the State like no other State was doing. The State government was making sincere efforts to protect the interests of Singareni employees, which were neglected by the previous governments. Besides regularising services of the contract staff, the State government has come up with schemes for their welfare, he added. (NSS)
