Land Bill aimed at Suitable Compensation: Harish

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today stated that the government is offering the best compensation to the farmers for giving their land for projects in the state. He introduced Telangana Land Acquisition Bill and participating in the debate on it, he said that as per constitution the Government is enacting  a new law and the opposition is blindly trying to find fault with it.

Harish Rao said it is wrong to oppose the new law for land acquisition. Stating that compensation is being paid as per 2013 Land Acquisition Act, the minister claimed that the TRS Government is giving suitable compensation to the land owners and farmers. Rejecting the accusations of the opposition that the government is resorting to forcible acquisition of land, Harish said that the land owners and farmers are giving land willfully and getting the best compensation as per 2013 Land Acquisition Act. As per their wish, compensation is being paid and there is no need for doubts or panic among others. The land so acquired is used for government projects and development programs and not for private works, he claimed. The Government will keep in view the opposition suggestions to review the Act, as land acquisition involves social issues and displacement of farmers and people and farm workers. Land acquisition would be according to the needs only, he added. (NSS)
