Keeping in view the resentment of Muslims on demolition of Abu-Bakr Masjid for road widening in Vijayawada, Chief Minister Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned 290 sqyds land and Rs. 35 lakh for construction of a new masjid. Vijayawada MLA Jaleel Khan revealed this. He told that local Muslims had made representation with Chief Minister on this issue.
It must be recalled that R& B had demolished Abu-Bakr masjid on May 16 against which Muslims had strongly protested. Representations made by Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board proved futile and the masjid was demolished before the eyes of Waqf Board officials.
