Hyderabad: Telangana government has included 3 more lakes in the list of lakes to be revived under the ongoing Mission Kakatiya programme. The lately included lakes are Peeran Cheruvu at Bandlaguda, Bathukamma Kunta at Amberpet, Chengicherla Cheruvu at Rangareddy. These lakes have become dry due to the encroachments and construction on surrounding areas of the lakes. The water which used to gather in those lakes now enters into the houses, passing through the roads.
Land grabbers who do plotting on lakes are now eyeing on these lakes which have become a plain land suitable for doing plotting. Despite various representations by organisations struggling for conservations of lakes, construction on the banks of such lakes have not stopped as a result the lakes have completely become dry.
