Hyderabad: Land grabbing cases on Waqf properties by the persons enjoying political patronage are on the rise in the state. Recently Waqf Board began action against illegal occupation of Waqf properties and lending 40 shops on lease at Bhainsa, Adilabad which was being carried out under the patronage of local political party. Municipal council is giving Waqf land on lease by claiming its ownership.
Even as this case was fresh, another case of illegal occupation under the patronage of ruling party MLA in Kareemnagar, on Waqf land admeasuring 52 acre and 24 guntas surfaced. Although the matter was in the knowledge of Waqf Board for long, action was stopped by using political influence.
Chief Executive Officer Waqf Board Mohammed Asadullah resumed his efforts to free valuable Waqf properties grabbed by “Waqf mafia” and sent a letter to Collector Kareem Nagar Netu Prasad in this connection requesting him to cancel pattas of Waqf land.
