Lankan Navy arrests four local fishermen for illegal fishing

Colombo : The Sri Lankan Navy has arrested four local fishermen for allegedly engaging in illegal fishing practices.

The Naval personnel attached to SLNS Buwaneka in Nachchikuda arrested four local fishermen, who were engaged in illegal fishing using unauthorized nets in the seas south of Iranathivu, reports Lanka page.

Two Fiber Glass Dinghies (FGDs) and three Monofilament nets used for fishing were taken into custody.

The arrested persons have been handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries in Kilinochchi along with the items seized for further investigation. (ANI)
