Kanpur: A lawyer was today beaten to death by his neighbour following an altercation over a drain outside his house at Ratiram Purwa village of Bilhaur Tehsil in the district, police said.
Jitendra Pal, around 35 years old, was beaten and badly injured by Satyendra Yadav and his companions after a quarrel between the two, SSP Shalabh Mathur said.
He was taken to hospital where he was declared brought dead, Mathur said.
Following the incident, the locals blocked the highway in protest. SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari rushed to the spot and the blockade was lifted following assurance of speedy action.
Satyendra Yadav and one of his companions were arrested and hunt is on to nab the other accused, Tiwari.
