Lewandowski admits Bayern fell asleep during 2-1 win over Hamburg

Berlin : Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has admitted that his side were guilty of ‘falling asleep’ during their 2-1 win over Hamburg in their Bundesliga clash.

The Poland international scored a brace to ensure that Bayern extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 11 points over Borussia Dortmund.

Although Xabi Alonso’s own goal generated few anxious moments for the visitors, Lewandowski scored the decisive goal for Bayern after deflecting Thomas Muller’s shot.

“In the first half we had everything under control, but when Hamburg got the free-kick we have fallen asleep a bit,” Lewandowski was quoted as saying by goal.com.

“Luckily we still won. We realise that we still need a bit of time after the winter break and it was important that we won the first three points in the new year,” the striker added. (ANI)
