New Delhi: In India, most of the abortions of girls below 20 years take place which indicates the liberal policy of the Govt. towards sex and earlier engagement in sexual activity.
Survey conducted by NSSO revealed that 77% pregnancies in rural areas and 74% in urban areas end up with a live birth. The abortion rate in rural areas was 2% in rural and 3% in urban areas.
Girl below 20 years age have registered 14% abortions in urban areas.
Liberal abortion facilities and greater readiness to report are the reasons for abortions.
