Lingayats Hail CM’s Decision On Basaveshwara Statue


Hyderabad: Veerashaiva Lingayath Kannadigula Welfare Association president Shankar Swamy today hailed the TRS Government for its decision to install a statue of Jagadguru Basaveshwara on the Hussain Sagar Bund here.
In a statement here, Shankar Swamy welcomed the decision of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao in this regard. “The entire Lingayath community is indebted to the Chief Minister for the recognition being offered. Basaweshwara was noted for welfare of people, irrespective of caste, community and region and preached brotherhood, amity and religious tolerance”, Shankar Swamy said.
He said some one lakh Kannadigas from various places migrated to Hyderabad and were making their living here. The TRS government’s decision in this regard has increased faith on the State government, he added. (NSS)
