M A Shabbir demands withdrawal of proposed power tariff hike

Leader of opposition Telangana Legislative Council Mr. Mohammed Ai Shabbir demanded that the State government give directions to Discoms to withdraw the proposed hike in power tariff. He blamed government of putting an additional burden of nearly Rs 2,000 crore on consumers.

Addressing a press conference in assembly premises Mr. Mohammed Ali Shabbir strongly condemned the proposal sent by Telangana Discoms to the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC) seeking a 9.14% increase in the existing power tariff.

He reminded that the ruling TRS had assured in its election manifesto that there would be no hike during its five-year rule. “However, the TRS government has gone back on its words in less than two years whereas the previous Congress government did not hike the power tariff for full five years,” he compared.

Mr. M A Shabbir accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of building a new home at the cost of Rs 35 crore.
