M A Shabbir hails Siasat’s campaign for Muslim reservation

Leader of Opposition in Telangana State Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has announced his complete support to movement launched by Siasat Daily for 12 percent Muslim reservations in Telangana. He told effective representation with the government and Commission of Enquiry with regard to provision of 12 pc reservation to Muslims is the need of the hour. He declared Siasat’s state level movement as promising and said that Congress party would extend complete support to the movement. He felt that besides political parties, religious, social and voluntary organisations should also join the movement to mount pressure on government.

He recalled that TRS chief Chandrasekhar Rao had announced to provide 12 pc reservations to Muslims within 4 months of coming to power but no measures have been take in this connection even after 16 months. Although Commission of Enquiry has been set up led by G Sudhir but it took 6 months for the committee to begin its work.

He appealed Muslim parties, institutions, organisations and also intellectuals and academicians to associate themselves with the movement launched by Siasat. Religious scholars and Masjid Imams should also support the cause, he asserted.
