Rautahat : Rajendra Mahato, a prominent Madhesi leader and chairman of the Sadbhawana Party in Nepal, has warned the government that a fierce and decisive movement would be launched from mid-April if it did not address demands of Madhesis.
Mahato said that the Madhesi people would resort to stern protest for their rights if the government missed an opportunity to address the demands the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) had presented in the form of a memorandum on Friday, reports the Himalayan Times.
Mahato demanded that the government should provide fuel and gas to the public without any hassle.
Leaders of Nepal’s United Democratic Madhesi Front (UMDL) yesterday held talks with Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli where they submitted a seven- point memorandum to him urging his government to address their demand before mid-April.
The Madhesis recently withdrew their protest and blockade in borders areas with India after months of agitation. The agitation sparked following Nepal adopting its constitution which it termed as ‘discriminatory’.
About 50 people had died in the protests that began in September last year. (ANI)
