Mahagathbandhan `scared` of PM Narendra Modi: Sushil Modi

Patna: Accusing Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav of lowering the standard of debate during the Bihar polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Sushil Modi on Wednesday said that the Mahagathbandhan was scared of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking to ANI, Sushil Modi criticised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his silence over the derogatory remarks made by Lalu against Prime Minister Modi.

“When the Prime Minister cancelled a rally on October 16, they (Mahagathbandhan) said that we had panicked. When he addressed first rally, they said that he is coming after 15 months. The truth is that these people are scared of Prime Minister Modi. They have formed this alliance because of Modiji,” Modi told ANI.

“The Prime Minister has not lowered the standard of poll campaign, it is Lalu Yadav who has been using derogatory language against the Prime Minister. Nitish Kumar is silent over all these remarks made by Lalu Yadav. The BJP has never lowered the standard of debate, it is these people who have done it,” he added.

Polling for the third phase of the five-phase Bihar Assembly elections began at 7 am amid tight security arrangements today.

A total of 808 candidates are in fray for 50 assembly seats across Bhojpur, Buxar, Nalanda, Patna, Saran and Vaishali districts.

The voting for the first two phases were held on October 12 and October 16, during which 81 Assembly constituencies went to polls.
