Makkah Masjid to get a makeover after Ramadan

Hyderabad: Makkah Masjid, the historical masjid of Hyderabad, is all set for a makeover from July this year after the month of Ramadan.

Keeping in view the deterioration of the masjid structure, following seepage of water and other problems, Minority Welfare Department felt the need to address the problems immediately.

The restoration project will be of 18-month and will cost around Rs 8 crore. The project which will be implemented in three phases will be kicked off in the first week of July as the Holy month of Ramadan will end on June 26. In the first phase the restoration of the roof would be taken up, as the water seepage had resulted in the accumulation of extra weight.

The government has asked the State Archeology and Museums department to prepare a roadmap for the restoration works.
