Bengaluru: Family of a woman dengue patient who was admitted at Fortis Hospital said that male attended, Shiva Kumar (22), not only molested her but also raped her.
Family member also said that despite it was a rape but police registered only a molestation case. They also added that they are planning to approach the Karnataka State Commission for Women.
Son of the victim questioned that when there was a female attendant in the ward, then why did a male attendant attend to his mother.
Victim’s husband alleged that Shiva Kumar touched his wife’s private parts on the pretext of checking her. He said that his wife first informed his son who then informed him.
Accused, a male attendant of Fortis Hospital was arrested after a complaint was filed by the patient’s husband. Woman was admitted to the hospital on 6th October and the incident of molestation took place in the midnight of 6th October itself.
Police after receiving complaint arrested the accused from the hospital. He was later produced before a magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody. On 16th October, court granted him bail. Meanwhile, Fortis hospital fired him.
However, the accused claimed that he did not molest her and was doing his duty. He said that he was checking “urinary catheter” and the patient mistook him.
