Man carrying pistol, cartridges arrested at IGI airport

New Delhi: A man was arrested today at the IGI airport for allegedly carrying a firearm and 13 live cartridges in his luggage, police said.

The man identified as Kamlakar Raghunath Ahirrao, a native of Laxmi Nagar in Dhule district of Maharashtra and said to be a district level leader of a political party was travelling to Indore via Delhi, a senior police official said.

At the IGI Airport, the security personnel found a point 32 bore pistol and around 13 cartridges in the luggage of Ahirrao’s wife, following which he was arrested under relevant sections of the Arms act, he said.

Ahirrao, however, produced a photocopy of his arm’s license but was not accepted by the police, he added.
