Alipurduar: A 45-year-old man killed his minor daughter and injured his son in an inebriated condition before allegedly trying to commit suicide at Jaigaon in this district, police said today.
Sombahadur Chhetri, a daily wage earner, in a drunken state killed Pratiksha (7) and injured Akash (5) with a knife.
Later, he tried to slit his own throat with the same knife last night, SP Avaru Rabindranath said.
While Pratisksha died on the spot, locals rescued Akash and Sombahadur in serious condition this morning. Both the injured father and son are being treated in a hospital, police said.
According to the neighbours, Chhetri was depressed after his wife left with another man, police said.
