New Delhi: A 14-year-old boy was murdered allegedly by his father at Sunehri Bagh area in Lutyens’ Delhi, following which the police today detained the accused.
At around 10.20 PM yesterday, the police received a call about the body of a boy spotted at a vacant plot in Sunehri Bagh, following which a team was sent there. The boy’s throat was slit and his face crushed with a stone, a senior police official said.
The caller turned out to be a friend of the boy’s father who told the police that the accused came to his house around 9.30 PM and insisted on his coming near the vacant plot in Sunehri Bagh where he claimed to have spotted his son’s body.
The PCR call was made from the spot.
The boy, a class 8 student, lived with his parents in a slum cluster near Gol Market area and his mother told the police that he had an examination paper at his school and should have returned home by 6 PM, the senior official said.
It was the boy’s father who started giving contradictory statements leaving the investigators baffled. On being questioned, he told the police that he saw his son’s body at around 7 PM and rushed to his friend’s residence for help.
When investigators inquired about what took him around 2.5 hours to reach his friend’s house which was nearby, he told the police that he went home to change his shirt, the official said.
When his wife was asked, she refuted this claim and the needle of suspicion pointed towards him.
“The police also recovered the weapon of offence and blood-stained clothes from a road near the spot. The blood-stained shirt belonged to the accused,” the senior official said.
When grilled, the accused confessed to have killed his son. Asked about the motive, he initially told the police that by doing so he wanted to frame his neighbour, with whom he had personal enmity.
When questioned further, the accused kept changing his version of motive behind the act, police said.
“A case of murder has been registered and we are recording statements. The accused will be arrested once the motive is clear. He is being interrogated by several teams,” the senior official added.
