Pune: A 38-year-old labourer allegedly strangled his wife and nine-year-old daughter before hanging himself in his house on the outskirts of Lonavala hill station in the wee hours today, police said.
According to police, Baban Dhindale, a resident of Okalaiwadi near Lonavala, also tried to kill his 11-year-old son Rohit by throttling him before hanging himself. However, Rohit survived as he passed out.
Police said the incident came to light after Rohit regained consciousness and called up his uncle.
On the likely motive behind the incident, a police official said Dhindale suspected his wife Dipali (32) of having an affair with a man living in their neighbourhood.
