Man sent to 10 days’ judicial custody for power theft

New Delhi: A man has been remanded in 10 days’ judicial custody by a Special Electricity Court in Rohini for alleged illegal recharging of e-rickshaw batteries.

According to a spokesperson for Tata Power-Delhi Distribution Ltd, the accused, identified as one Dalip, was booked for direct theft of electricity by Tata Power-DDL in October last year.

He was alleged to be illegally recharging e-rickshaw batteries and a total load of 13.185 KW was found connected at his premises without any meter, the spokesperson said.

A theft bill of Rs 10,00,734 was raised in the case, the spokesperson said.

Several FIRs have been filed by the company at Jahangirpuri, Subhash Palace and Badli police stations against people who are illegally charging e-rickshaw batteries without having legal meter connections, the spokesperson added.
