Married couple among three held for duping electronic dealers

New Delhi: Taking a cue from Bollywood flick “Bunty aur Babli”, a married couple allegedly duped electronics dealers of costly appliances by producing forged documents until they ran out of luck and were arrested from north-west Delhi’s Ashok Vihar, police said today.

According to police, the accused persons, Anoop Mishra (30), his wife Komal (30) and his brother in law Sunny Aswani (28), used to get accommodations on forged documents.

Thereafter they would procure electronic appliances from showrooms on monthly instalments by submitting fake documents and later change their addresses.

In the past few months, the trio allegedly managed to cheat showroom owners and procure electronic goods that range from LED television sets to iPhones, police said.

During interrogation, it came to light that Anoop and Komal were inspired by the 2005 crime-comedy “Bunty aur Bubli” starring Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan, and they had roped in Aswani for real-life con, police said.

While Anoop has an MBA degree, Komal graduated from the University of Delhi, they added.
