A 21-year-old married woman was found hanged at her house in Mahuakhera village in Malawan police station area of the district, police said today.
The body of Nema Devi was found hanging from the ceiling of her house yesterday. Her father, in an FIR, alleged that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws over dowry and then hanged.
He said Nema Devi got married to Mohan Singh in 2014. She had been facing harassment and torture over dowry demands of her husband and in-laws, Nema Devi’s father alleged.
Malawan police station SHO Digvijay Singh said an FIR had been filed against Mohan Singh and his father Chandrapal.
Investigation into the matter is on, the SHO said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
