Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s scheme rechristened Mission Bhagiratha

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Captain Uttam Kumar Reddy strongly condemned the rechristening of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s Sujala Sravanthi Scheme into Mission Bhagiratha. Sending an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he criticized the latter for taking part in the inauguration of the scheme.

Mr. Reddy told that change of name of the project is an insult of a freedom fighter and the first education minister of the country, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, which is strongly condemned by the Congress Committee. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Sujala Sravanthi Scheme, was launched by Congress government in December 2008 to bring 30 tmcft of water to Hyderabad in three phases from Godavari river seeking financial support from HUDCO. This is the water scheme of Congress but the TRS government is trying to take the credit by changing its name, he said.
