Mauresmo reveals Murray’s abrasive on-court behaviour led to split

Melbourne : Amelie Mauresmo, who parted ways with Andy Murray after working together for two years, has disclosed that the two-time Grand Slam champion’s on-court swearing was one of the reasons behind the pair’s sudden split.

Murray is known for screaming out in the middle of his matches as well as for berating those who sit in his support box when tension rises.

The Frenchwoman said her inability to help Murray contain his on-court behaviour led her to conclude that ‘it would be difficult to continue’ the partnership.

She further insisted the Scot’s harsh on-court nature was in stark contrast to his otherwise convivial off-court persona, news.com.au reported.

Mauresmo, who gave birth to her first child in August and took six months off from coaching, had earlier admitted that dedicating enough time along with the travel was a challenge for her.

Under the tutelage of Mauresmo, Murray climbed to world number two in the rankings and had clinched his first clay-court titles last year in Munich and Madrid. (ANI)
