‘Maximum atrocities against Dalits took place during Congress rule’: BJP

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday accused Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi of politicising the Faridabad caste violence and alleged that maximum atrocities against Dalits took place during the Congress rule in Haryana.

“Rahul Gandhi has forgotten that maximum atrocities against Dalits took place during the Congress’ ten-year rule in Haryana. Whatever happened in Faridabad is very saddening. Rahul Gandhi should not try to politicise the matter,” BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI.

Rahul, who today met the family members of the victims in Sunped village, alleged that the increasing hate crime incident was a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude.

Two children of a Dalit family died and their parents suffered burn injuries yesterday after their home was set on fire, allegedly by upper-caste Rajputs in Sunpedh village near Faridabad.

Tension gripped the locality yesterday after the incident.

The mother of the children is battling for life at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
