Mayor aims at single digit rank in Swachh Bharat Mission

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan asked the staff and officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to strive hard to  make Hyderabad ‘Open Defecation Free’ city.

Addressing a day long workshop for all Zonal Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Executive Engineers and AMOHs, the Mayor said that the officials should focus on resolving the problems being faced by the people. He said focus should be laid on providing Bio Toilets. He said people should be encouraged to have individual toilets in their houses. He said that the GHMC should implement the works on the guidelines given by the Central Government under Swachh Bharath and try to get best rank.

Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy also addressed the workshop.

The purpose of the workshop was to explain the participants about the criteria prescribed by the Government of India under Swachh Bharath Mission for ranking of cities. The GHMC which was ranked 273 in 2015 was able to improve its ranking to 19 in 2016 through initiatives like Parichayam”, ICE activities, elimination of  “Garbage Vulnerable Points” etc., It is emphasized that all should strive to get single digit rank in the next ranking.
