Medical college will come up at Gurgaon: Khattar

Gurgaon: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said a medical college named after Mata Sheetla Devi would be soon constructed here.

The Municipal Corporation, the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority and the Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board have been entrusted with the task of constructing the college, he said.

A suitable place would be identified for the proposed medical college and each stakeholder will bear 40 per cent of the cost of construction, only the remaining 20 per cent amount would be incurred by Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board, the chief minister said.

Khattar was speaking at the ‘Harit Gurugram-Ek Prayas (plantation drive) Programme’ here.

The drive could be successful only with the whole-hearted cooperation of the people, he said, asking industrial houses to the programme under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Khattar described Gurgaon as the “industrial and economic city of the state” and said the state government would leave no stone unturned for its development.

“This icon city has a vital contribution not only in the state, but also in the country,” he said.

The chief minister said to check traffic jams here during the rainy season, the Badshahpur drain is being further widened by 10 metres and houses along the drain have been moved.

A detailed project report is being prepared for the construction of an underpass on Shri Mata Sheetla Devi Mandir road, Khattar said.

Regarding the construction of welcome gates on Delhi- Gurgaon roads, he said the demand for setting these up at main entry points had already been accepted.

On providing electricity within a radius of 900 metres of the AYUDH Depot, Khattar said a petition has been filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court and it is expected that the court would give a favourable verdict.

He said the developers have been given two months to set up a 66-KV sub-station in RD City.

“If the Power Utilities’ set up the sub-station, the cost would have to be borne by the developers,” Khattar said.

On this occasion, Khattar also announced that a pond at a vacant land of the Haryana Urban Development Authority in Sector 53, Saraswati Kunj, will be rejuvenated.
