Meeting between Aziz, Ghani fails to achieve breakthrough

Karachi, Sept. 5 : The meeting between Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz has not offered a clear signal on whether reconciliation talks between the Taliban and the Government of Afghanistan would resume.

According to the Dawn, Aziz returned to Islamabad after a day-long trip to Kabul.

President Ghani reiterated his policy of good neighbourly ties with Pakistan, in his address to the participants of the sixth edition of Regional Economic Conference on Afghanistan (RECCA-VI) in Kabul.

President Ghani also pointed fingers at unnamed elements within Pakistan who, in his view, were opposed to peace in Afghanistan. (ANI)
