Melania Trump reads Dr. Seuss to sick children

Washington: Melania Trump visited a hospital’s paediatric ward where she read Dr. Seusss “Oh, The Places Youll Go!”, to sick children in her first solo public outing as First Lady, a media report said.

Trump read to the children at New York Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan in an event to mark World Reading Day, The Telegraph reported.

“I came to encourage you to read… and to think about what you want to achieve in life,” the First Lady said.

“We will read some books today. So do you know what is today? It’s a reading day.”

“You go places where you feel better,” she told the sick children.

“You’ll be as famous as famous can be,” she read, holding up the book to display the pictures, “with the whole wide world watching you win on TV.”

Trump, who said the book was a favourite of hers, has kept a low profile as First Lady so far, appearing at her husband President Donald Trump’s side for a number of official events, the daily said.

On Tuesday, she watched him address a joint session of Congress in Washington.
