Mercury drops to 39.9 deg C; respite for Delhiites

Overcast conditions with short sunny spells prevailed in the national capital today with the maximum temperature settling at 39.9 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average.

The minimum temperature settled at 27.6 degrees Celsius, three notches above the normal, a MeT Department official said.

The humidity level oscillated between 59 and 25 per cent. At Palam observatory, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.1 degrees, the official said.

The Met Office has predicted overcast conditions for tomorrow along with the possibility of light rain and thundershowers in some parts of the city.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 39 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius,” the weatherman said.

Yesterday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.6 degrees while the minimum temperature had settled at 30 degrees Celsius.
