Mercury stays above normal in Himachal

Shimla: The mercury stayed above normal at most places in Himchal Pradesh in spite of hailstorm and rains at many places.

State capital Shimla was lashed by a severe hailstorm, followed by rains causing marginal fall in minimum temperature which dropped to 10.8 degrees after 12.8 mm rains.

Salooni in Chamba was wettest with 52 mm rains while Kangra received 32.8 mm rains, followed by Mandi 14 mm, and Dharamsala 12.8 mm.

Keylong was the coldest in the region with minimum temperature at 8.3 degrees while Manali and Kalpa recorded a low of 8.4 degrees and 10.0 degrees Celsius.

Una was the hottest with maximum temperature at 38.2 degrees followed by Dharamshala 32.4 degrees, Shimla 26.2 degrees and Kalpa 22.8 degrees Celsius.

The local MeT office has predicted rains and thunder storm at isolated places in mid hills, and rains or snow at higher hills in the state over next six days.
