Messi’s late brace inspires Barcelona to 2-0 win over Arsenal in CL tie

London: Star Striker Lionel Messi scored twice in the last 20 minutes as Barcelona sank Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg of the last-16 Champions League tie at Emirates Stadium.

In the first half of the match, none of the sides were able to break the deadlock.

It was in the 72nd minute of the match when the Argentine forward opened his side account with a lightning fast counter-attack, the Guardian reported.

Messi struck the second goal for Barcelona in the 83rd minute to make it 2-0 against Arsene Wenger’s side.

The La Liga Leaders are now unbeaten in their 33 games in all competitions, including 14 wins from their last 15 games.

Barcelona will now aim to book their place in the quarterfinals when they take on Arsenal in the second leg of the last-16 tie on March 17. (ANI)
