Hyderabad: MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi today demanded that the State government protect the Wakf Lands in the State.
Participating in the discussion on budget on Saturday in the Assembly, Akbaruddin said he was continuing as an MLA for the fourth time and since then he was raising the Wakf lands issue but no government was bothering to protect the Wakf lands. He said the earlier governments sold out Wakf lands to multinational companies. “No problem…but the companies have to provide jobs to the Muslim youth by providing some percentage”, he said. He also asked the government to appoint a House Committee to protect the Wakf lands. He said the TRS also approached the Court in the past like his party on Hussian Sha Wali Dargah lands. He urged the TRS government to protect the lands as it came to power now.
Akbaruddin Owaisi thanked the TRS government for allotting 50 acre land for the burial ground for the Muslim community. He asked the government to provide land for burial grounds in the districts not only to Muslims but also Hindus. Alleging corrupt practices in the Godavari River Water project with Rs.1600 crore, Akbaruddin said the government failed to bring the Godavari water to City. Demanding that the government protect the Osmania General Hospital Heritage Building, he suggested that the government construct new buildings for the hospital protecting the old buildings.
Education needs more allocation
Alleging that the government was not allocating adequate funds to Education sector, Akbaruddin asked the government to tell about the fate of KG-to-PG scheme. He said the school education has very important role in developing the poor and hence there was a need to allocate huge amounts to Education. The government has not yet started constructing sports complexes in the Assembly constituencies, he alleged and demanded that the government extend help to the families of Telangana martyrs. He also asked the government to complete the double bed room scheme for the needy.
Demanding that the government enhance pension of former MLAs and widows of former MLAs, Akbaruddin said the MLA’s job was not easy one and there was a need to increase salaries of the MLAs. (NSS)
