MIM, MBT clash over weekly makeshift market

Hyderabad: Tension prevails at Moinbagh over weekly makeshift market on Friday when local corporator shut down the market before it was actually organised. Of late the MIM corporator of Moinbagh division Saleem Baig has been raising objection over the weekly vegetable market which is being organised for the past 3 years at Fatah Shah Nagar, Moin Bagh, Riyasat Nagar Division.

Vendors on the other hand allege extortion of ‘Mamool’ by the local corporator. A sense of unease prevailed as the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) and Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT) clashed over the issue. Police mobilized forces and intensified patrolling in the area.

Vendors allege that they are being threatened in the name of corporator and are forced to pay ‘Mamool’ for setting up market. However police denied the allegations.

Ex-Corporator of MBT along with dozens of vendors met DCP South Zone and requested to relieve the vendors from local corporator’s unrestrained behavior. MBT leaders alleged that the corporator wanted to collect the ‘Mamool’ failing which he is trying to shutdown the market.
