MIM opposes proposals to hike bus fare, property tax, power tariff

Hyderabad: MIM Floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said it was not fair to the State government to contemplate a hike in the bus fares, property tax, power tariff and so on.
Participating in the discussion on budget on Saturday in the Assembly, Akbaruddin Owaisi said there was no link between the budget estimation and expenditure it has done during 2014-15 and 2015-16 budgets and the same could take place even with 2016-17 budget introduced on March 14. He said the government was taking loans from foreign countries and asked the government as to how long it will borrow funds from other countries.
The MIM leader alleged that the State government was not releasing fees reimbursement funds to the colleges. The colleges were holding the certificates of the students, he said and asked the government to tell whether it would clear fees reimbursement dues or not.
Reacting to the querry, Finance Minister Etela Rajender said the government has cleared the fee arrears accumulated under the united State pending for the last two years. He said the government would issue orders saying that no college should hold certificates of the students. Owaisi pointed out that all committees appointed on the welfare of Muslims stated that the Muslims were most backward than SCs and STs. The government should spend more funds on Muslim welfare. Responding to it, Etela said the TRS government was more concerned about the Muslims and the government allotted 70 minority welfare schools in the State. Akbaruddin also asked the government to include Hyderabad City into Mission Bhagiratha and demanded that the government protect lakes in the city. (NSS)
