Mini AC bus services between cities in Telangana

The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation with the objective of operating services between cities in the State with a motto of “service at door-step” would purchase and operate 100 mini AC and non-AC buses with limited seating capacity for 21 commuters.

Minister for Transport Mahender Reddy disclosing this during question hour in Telangana Assembly today said mini AC bus services have been initially introduced between Hyderabad and Warangal and Hyderabad and Nizamabad. Similarly, mini non AC buses would be introduced on low occupancy short distance rural routes without conductors.

Explaining the measures being taken to strengthen the TSRTC, the Minister said the GHMC has released of Rs 336.40 crore for the year 2015-16 to reimburse the losses sustained by the corporation for operations in the city. An amount of Rs 350 crore would be provided to the corporation for the year 2016-17 for purchase of 1,436 buses, including mini buses towards replacement and augmentation. Another step being taken was to constitute a coordination committee with officials of Transport department and TSRTC to curb overloading by illicit operators by organizing regular checks, he added.

As regards the steps being taken to improve organizational efficiency by the TSRTC, the Minister said this includes operation of more number of long distance services,  rationalization of low yielding services to improve occupancy ratio from time to time, minimizing expenditure by economizing on fuel consumption, spares and lubricants besides improving crew productivity and also to increase non-operational revenues by optimizing use of properties of the corporation wherever feasible.
