Protocol row at a program attended by Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy led to a controversy among the ruling TRS leaders and those of the BJP at Mahbubnagar today.
The absence of BJP MLC Ramchandra Rao’s name on the name plaque of the event compelled the BJP leaders and activists to take on the ruling party. This led to verbal duel and they indulged in throwing each other and police made a vain bid to control the situation. However, local MP Jithender Reddy could convince the warring leaders saying that such mistakes would not recur in future and asked them to collectively participate in developmental works.
Later, Mahender Reddy, while beginning JNNURM buses in the district announced that every village will get a bus facility. Some 1100 villages were found to have no bus facility which will be restored with laying roads, he declared. Stating that JNNURM sanctioned 130 buses to Palamur, Karimnagar and Khammam districts, the minister announced 30 buses will be given to Mahbunagar district now. He said efforts are being made to make RTC overcome its losses and encourage workers with better performance. “Soon we will begin 400 Palle Velugu buses, 100 AC buses and every Assembly segment will get an AC bus to Hyderabad”, he added.
Jithender Reddy said RTC workers played a key role in the statehood movement. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was keen on developing the RTC and given sops to the workers, he said. The MP also said KCR was giving priority to develop Palamur district with renovation and repairs of bus stands and depots that were neglected during previous government.
MLA Srinivas Goud alleged that previous governments allotted old buses to Telangana and new ones to Andhra region. During TRS rule, the transportation was getting a facelift, he said. As Jadcherla and Hyderabad stretch is becoming four-lane road, road connectivity will be improved, he observed. (NSS)
