Minorities’ panel offers support to Sudhir Commission


State Minorities Commission chairman Abid Rasool Khan has offered to provide complete support and available data to the Commission of Inquiry, led by retired IAS officer G Sudhir, in connection with the study on socio-economic and educational condition of Muslims in Telangana State.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Abid Rasool Khan advised Telangana Government to link State Minorities Commission and BC Commission with the Commission of Inquiry to get legal sanctity to the ongoing study on socio-economic status of Muslims. Meanwhile, he demanded that the State Government issue an ordinance to provide 12% reservation to Muslims in the recruitments.

Abid Rasool Khan pointed that a majority of posts in eight out of nine departments related to Minorities Welfare are vacant. While 12 out of 15 posts in Minorities Commission are vacant, there are 68 (out of 299) vacancies in State Waqf Board, 8/34 in Urdu Academy, 16/28 in Commissionerate of Minorities, 44/116 in Minorities Finance Corporation, 4/8 in Minorities Welfare Department and 14 out of 25 sanctioned posts are vacant in Haj Committee.

He also informed that the Commission has sought details of funds released for minorities’ welfare during the last four years from the Andhra Pradesh Government. (INN)
