Minority institutions virtually paralysed

Release of fund to Minority Welfare Department under the first quarterly budget is quite disappointing as a result the functioning of Minority Welfare Department remains virtually paralysed and implementation of minority schemes has come to a standstill.

According to reliable sources, out of the 1204 Cr allocated for Minority Welfare only 479 Cr. were released. 300 Cr of this are regarding scholarship and fee reimbursement schemes. The amount will be released for paying arrears of scholarship and fee-reimbursement of the year 2013-14 and 2014-15. Just 179 Cr were released for other schemes that too many important schemes are not included.

Interestingly the government has not released budget of 15 Cr for Iftar Package. Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali consulted with high officials on Monday to review the causes behind the delay in release of budget.
