In order to protect Waqf properties in Telangana, Minority Welfare Department has decided to constitute Waqf Protection and Coordination Committees in each district of Telangana.
A 12-member committee headed by respective district collector will review the status of Waqf lands and take action against the encroachers. Secretary Minority Welfare issued orders in this connection.
Superintendent of Police, Joint Collector, District Revenue Officer, Sub Collector/RDO, Municipal Commissioner, Assistant Director SLR, District Registrar besides a member of any NGO working for the protection of Waqf properties, a woman member and a senior Muslim advocate will be the members of the committee. District minority Welfare Officer will be the convenor.
