Adding another feather to its cap, the flagship program of Mission Bhagiratha bagged another coveted national award for launching innovative ideas in providing the best infrastructure facilities in the scheme. Hudco announced the award to the water scheme for second consecutive time. Union Urban Development and Information Minister M Venkaiah Naidu will present the award to Telangana Government at a program to be held in Delhi on April 25. Hudco appreciated the water scheme for implementing innovative ideas.
The prestigious project of Telangana Government, which already got accolades at national and international levels, by the Centre and NITI AYOG even as other states trying to follow and replicate, the water scheme has been selected by the Centre for the award. It is pertinent to note here that the prestigious safe drinking water scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Komatibanda village of Gajwel segment on August 7 last year.
The State government was spending a whopping Rs 42,000 crore for the water scheme by laying about 1.26 lakh km long pipeline to quench the thirst of rural villages which are so far deprived of such a facility. Simultaneously the internet facility is also being provided along with water pipeline at every house-hold and the government set a deadline to complete the project by March 2018. (NSS)
