Jaipur: BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari and his hundreds of followers from Deendayal Vahini, an organisation founded by him, were prevented by the police on Sunday from staging a protest in front of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s residence in Jaipur.
They had raised anti-Raje slogans at Sodala. Tiwari also sat down on the road demanding the chief minister to vacate the 13, Civil Lines Bungalow. However, Tiwari and his supporters were dispersed from the spot by the police, as reported by DH.
Tiwari who alleged police for detaining him said, “I was not allowed to sit outside CMs house for dharna. It was a peaceful protest. Whatever I am doing, it’s for the interest of people.”
“Tiwari was taken back to his official residence at Jalupura. He was leading a rally from his Shyam Nagar residence towards Civil Lines, where CrPC section 144 was imposed. We did not arrest him,” Jaipur Police Commissioner Sanjay Agarwal said.
Tiwari and his followers have been demanding Raje for vacating her current residence and urging her to move in the resident allotted by the government to her at 8, Civil Lines. He had said earlier to stage a stir and there should not be a ‘loot’ of public property.
They had announced a stir on 25th June, as they were denied the permission of staging a protest by the authorities.
